GARSHOM BEST ORGANIZATION AWARD 2020
EL SHADDAI CHARITABLE TRUST, an ISO certified NGO in Goa is dedicated to education, child protection, women empowerment, and advocacy for children's rights, especially those from the streets and orphans. In addition to running formal and non-formal schools across Goa, they also run outreach programs in slums. It offers remedial coaching to dropouts and delinquent children as well as adult literacy (especially for women). Besides reproductive health, family planning, child marriage dangers, and girl child rights, the NGO also empowers women. To create awareness and bring about change in the lives of families in slums and underprivileged communities in Goa, including Mapusa, Calangute, Vasco, Margao and Chimbel, they work with families in these communities. As part of their work, they offer vocational training to youth and women in these communities so that they can achieve financial stability and, through that, empower themselves. Mr Matthew Kurian is the Co-Founder and Managing Trustee of the El Shaddai Charitable trust. In 1997 he met Ms Anita Edgar from Devon, UK and together they set up El Shaddai Charitable Trust.
