സിംഗപ്പൂരിലെ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരായ 13 തൊഴിലാളികള്‍ക്ക് സിക വൈറസ് ബാധ. ഇന്ത്യൻ വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയമാണു ഇക്കാര്യം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചത്. തൊഴിലാളികളില്‍ നടത്തിയ രക്തപരിശോധനയിലാണ് വൈറസ് സാന്നിധ്യം പോസിറ്റീവ് ആണെന്ന് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചതായി വിദേശകാര്യ വാഗ്താവ് വികാസ് സ്വരൂപ് അറിയിച്ചു.

സിംഗപ്പൂരിലെ നിര്‍മാണ മേഖലയിൽ തൊഴിൽ ചെയ്യുന്നവരിലാണു സിക വൈറസ് ബാധ ആദ്യം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചത്. തൊഴിലാളികളില്‍ നടത്തിയ രക്തപരിശോധനയിൽ 36 ഓളം പേര്‍ക്ക് വൈറസ് പിടിപെട്ടതായാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ടുകൾ.
അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഉപ ഭൂഖണ്ഡത്തിലും കരീബിയന്‍ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലുമായിരുന്നു രോഗബാധ കൂടുതലായി കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ഇതുവരെ 34 രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ സിക വൈറസ് ബാധ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തതായി ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടന (ഡബ്ലു.എച്ച്‌.ഒ.) നേരത്തെ അരിയിച്ചിരുന്നു. കൊതുകുകളിലൂടെയാണ് ഈ രോഗം മനുഷ്യരിലേക്ക് പടരുന്നത്.
