അഡലെയ്ഡ്: രാജ്യത്ത് പുതിയ മെഡിക്കൽ സ്കൂളുകൾ ആരംഭിക്കില്ലെന്നു ഫെഡറൽ സർക്കാർ. അതേസമയം ഉള്പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും പ്രദേശികതലങ്ങളിലും കൂടുതല് ഡോക്ടര്മാരുടെ സേവനം ലഭ്യമാക്കാന് വേണ്ട നടപടികൾ കൈക്കൊള്ളുമെന്നും സർക്കാർ അറിയിച്ചു. നിലവിലുള്ള മെഡിക്കല് സ്കൂളുകള് പര്യാപ്തമാണ്. ഇതിലൂടെ തന്നെ 2030 ഓടെ ഏഴായിരം മെഡിക്കല് പ്രാക്ടീഷണര്മാര് അധികമുണ്ടാവുമെന്നാണ് കണക്കുക്കൂട്ടുന്നതെന്ന് റൂറല് ഹെല്ത്ത് അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് മന്ത്രി ഡേവിഡ് ഗില്ലെസ്പൈ അരിയിച്ചു.
ഉള്പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും പ്രാദേശിക തലത്തിലും മെഡിക്കല് പ്രാക്ടീഷണര്മാരുടെ കുറവ് നികത്താന് മെഡിക്കല് സ്കൂളുകൾ പുനർവിന്യസിക്കുന്നതിനെ പറ്റി സർക്കാർ ആലോചിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. പ്രാദേശിക മേഖലകളില് മെഡിക്കല് സ്പെഷലിസ്റ്റ് പരിശീലനത്തിനായി 94 ദശലക്ഷം ഡോളർ സർക്കാർ ഇതിനോടകം നീക്കി വെച്ചിട്ടുമുണ്ട്. അതേസമയം പുതിയ മെഡിക്കല് സ്കൂളുകള് ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന നിലപാടാണ് ഓസ്ട്രേലിയന് മെഡിക്കല് അസോസിയേഷനുള്ളത്.
