മുതിര്ന്ന ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക് പാര്ട്ടി പ്രതിനിധിയുടെ മെയിലില് നിന്ന് ലെജിറ്റിമേറ്റ് എന്ന വാക്കിന് പകരം വിപരീതാര്ഥമുള്ള ഇല്ലെജിറ്റിമേറ്റ് എന്ന് തെറ്റായി മെയില് അയച്ചതുള്പ്പെടെയുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് ന്യൂയോര്ക് ടൈംസ് റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് ഡൊണാള്ഡ് ട്രംപിനെ സഹായിക്കാന് റഷ്യ ഇടപെട്ടെന്ന സി.ഐ.എയുടെ കണ്ടെത്തലിന് ബലംപകരുകയാണ്. സ്വകാര്യ വിവരങ്ങള് ചോര്ത്താനുദ്ദേശിച്ചുള്ള നിരവധി വ്യാജ മെയിലുകള് യുഎസ് ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക് നാഷണല് കമ്മിറ്റിക്ക് ലഭിച്ചതായും പത്രം റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് ചെയ്തു.
ഹിലരി ക്ലിന്റന്റെ കാംപയിന് ചെയര്മാന് ജോണ് പൊഡസ്റ്റക്കും ലഭിച്ചു ഇത്തരത്തില് മെയില്. ശേഷം ജോണിന്റെ അറുപതിനായിരത്തോളം മെയിലുകള് റഷ്യന് ഹാക്കര്മാര് ചോര്ത്തി. ഈ മെയിലുകള് റഷ്യ വിക്കിലീക്സിന് ചോര്ത്തി നല്കിയെന്നും അവ ഒക്ടോബറില് വിക്കിലീക്സ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചുമെന്നുമാണ് അമേരിക്കന് ഇന്റലിജന്സ് ഏജന്സിയുടെ കണക്കുകൂട്ടല്. ഇതോടെ ഹിലരിക്കെതിരെ ഉയര്ന്ന മെയില്വിവാദം ട്രംപിന് ഗുണം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
