അഡലെയ്ഡ്: രാജ്യത്ത് എച്ച്ഐവി -എയിഡ്സ് രോഗികളുടെ എണ്ണം കുറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നതായി റിപ്പോർട്ട്. 1990കള് മധ്യം മുതല് രാജ്യത്ത് ആന്റി-റിട്രോവൈറല് മെഡിക്കേഷന് ആരംഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതുവഴി എച്ച്ഐവി എയ്ഡ്സായി മാറുന്നത് ചെറുക്കാന് ഫലപ്രദമായി കഴിഞ്ഞതാണ് ഈ നേട്ടത്തിനു കാരണമെന്ന് കിര്ബി ആന്ഡ് പീറ്റര് ഡോഹെര്ടി ഇന്സ്റ്റിറ്റിയൂട്സ്, ഓസ്ട്രേലിയന് ഫെഡറേഷന് ഓഫ് എയ്ഡ്സ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില് നിന്നുള്ള ഗവേഷകര് പറയുന്നു.
രാജ്യത്ത് എയ്ഡ്സ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടിയ കാലമായ 1990കളുടെ ആരംഭത്തില് വര്ഷത്തില് ഏതാണ്ട് 1000ത്തോളം പേര് രോഗം ബാധിച്ച് മരിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഇത്തരക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണം കുറഞ്ഞ് വരുന്നുതയാണ് കിര്ബി ഇന്സ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിലെ എച്ച്ഐവി എപിഡെമിയോളജി ആന്ഡ് പ്രിവന്ഷന് പ്രോഗ്രാമിലെ തലവനാ പ്രഫ. ആന്ഡ്ര്യൂ ഗ്രുലിക് പറയുന്നത്.
