സിഡ്നി: സർക്കാറിന്റെ അഭയാർത്ഥി വിരുദ്ധ നിലപാടിനെതിരെ പാര്ലമെന്റ് ഗാലറിയില് പ്രതിഷേധം. 30ഓളം പേരടങ്ങുന്ന സംഘത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷേധത്തില് പാര്ലമെന്റ് നടപടികള് 40 മിനിറ്റോളം തടസ്സപ്പെടാൻ ഇടയാക്കി. തുടർന്ന് പ്രതേിഷേധക്കാരെ സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര് ബലം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു നീക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. വിസിള്ബ്ലോവേഴ്സ്, സിറ്റിസണ് അലയന്സ് പ്രവര്ത്തകരാണ് പ്രതിഷേധം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്.
അഭയാര്ഥികളെ തുറങ്കിലടക്കാനുള്ള തീരുമാനം കടലില് അഭയാര്ഥികള് അപായപ്പെടാനുള്ള സാധ്യത കുറയ്ക്കുമെന്ന സർക്കാറിന്റെയും രതിപക്ഷമായ ലേബര് പാര്ട്ടിയുടെയും നിലപാടിനെതിരെ ആയിരുന്നു പ്രതിഷേധം. പാര്ലമെന്റ് തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്തിയുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധത്തെ ഭരണ പക്ഷവും പ്രതിപക്ഷവും അപലപിച്ചു. അതേസമയം പ്രതിഷേധത്തെ ഗ്രീന്സ് പാര്ട്ടി പിന്തുണച്ചു.
