കഴിഞ്ഞ മാസം രണ്ട് ഫ്രഞ്ച് പൌരന്മാരും ഒരു ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് വിനോദസഞ്ചാരിയും മരണപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അതേസമയം പ്രായമായവരാണ് മരിച്ചവരില് ഭൂരിഭാഗമെന്നും ഇവര് പല രോഗങ്ങള്ക്ക് നിലവില് ചികിത്സയിലുള്ളവരാണെന്നുമാണ് ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് കേന്ദ്രം അധികൃതര് പറയുന്നത്. പ്രതിവര്ഷം 20 ലക്ഷം വിനോദസഞ്ചാരികള് ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കണക്ക്. വടക്കു കിഴക്കന് ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ ക്വീന്സ്ലാന്ഡിനു തീരത്താണ് 3000 കിലോ മീറ്റര് നീണ്ടു കിടക്കുന്ന ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പ്രകൃതിദത്തമായ പവിഴപ്പുറ്റ് ശൃംഖല.
