ഉദ്ഘാടനചടങ്ങുകള്ക്ക് ശേഷം പാര്ലിമെന്റ് അംഗങ്ങളുടെ സത്യാപ്രതിജ്ഞ നടന്നു. തുടര്ന്ന് നടന്ന സ്പീക്കര് തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് 65ല് 48 വോട്ടുകള് നേടി മര്സൂഖ് അല് ഗാനിം വീണ്ടും സ്പീക്കര് ആയി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. എതിര്സ്ഥാനാര്ത്ഥികളായ അബ്ദുല്ല അല് റൂമിക്കു ഒമ്പതും ഷുഹൈബ് അല് മുവൈസിറിനു എട്ടും വോട്ടുകളാണ് ലഭിച്ചത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ കാബിനറ്റില് വാര്ത്താവിനിമയ മുനിസിപ്പല് കാര്യ മന്ത്രിയായിരുന്ന ഈസാ അല് കന്ദരിയാണ് ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി സ്പീക്കര്. ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി സ്പീക്കര് തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് വാശിയേറിയ മത്സരമാണ് നടന്നത്. പ്രതിപക്ഷ നിരയില് നിന്നുള്ള ജമാന് അല് ഹര്ബാഷ് ആയിരുന്നു എതിരാളി ആദ്യ റൗണ്ടില് ഇരുവര്ക്കും തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടാന് ആവശ്യമായ വോട്ടു ലഭിക്കാത്തതിനെ തുടര്ന്ന് വീണ്ടും വോട്ടെടുപ്പ് നടത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. രണ്ടാം റൗണ്ടില് ഒറ്റ വോട്ടിന്റെ വ്യത്യാസത്തിലാണ് അല് കന്ദരി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
