ലണ്ടൻ: ലണ്ടന് നഗരത്തില് ഡീസല് വാഹനങ്ങള് നിരോധിക്കണമെന്നു ആരോഗ്യ രംഗത്തെ വിദഗ്തർ. അപകടകരമായ രീതിയില് വര്ധിച്ചുവരുന്ന വായു മലിനീകരണം തടയാൻ ഡീസൽ വാഹനങ്ങൾ നിരോധിക്കണം എന്നാണ് ആവശ്യമുയർന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇക്കാര്യമുന്നയിച്ചു ഡോക്ടര്മാരും മെഡിക്കല് വിദ്യാര്ഥികളും കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം നഗരത്തില് പ്രതിഷേധപ്രകടനം നടത്തി.
മേയര് സാദിഖ് ഖാന് ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച നിവേദനം നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലണ്ടനിൽ ഗുരുതരമായ വായു മലിനീകരണം മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന രോഗങ്ങളാല് പ്രതി വര്ഷം 9,400 പേർ മരണപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് ആരോഗ്യപ്രവർത്തകർ പറയുന്നു. എന്നാല് ഡീസല് വാഹന നിരോധനം എന്നത് അപ്രായോഗികമായ നിര്ദേശമാണെന്നും ഇത് വലിയ തിരിച്ചടിയുണ്ടാക്കുമെന്നും വിമർശകർ വാദിക്കുന്നു.
