2017 ലെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിനു ശേഷം ഇത് സംബന്ധിച്ച നിയമം കൊണ്ടുവരണമെന്ന് സിഡിയു നേതാക്കൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിലവിൽ, 23 വയസ് വരെ ചില രാജ്യങ്ങളില്നിന്നുള്ളവരുടെ കുട്ടികള്ക്കു മാത്രം ഇരട്ട പൗരത്വം അനുവദിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു ജര്മനിയിലെ നിയമം. 23 വയസിനു ശേഷം ഏതെങ്കിലുമൊരു പൗരത്വം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കണമെന്നായിരുന്നു നിബന്ധന.
